Jan Carroll Weir has been teaching high school chemistry for over 20 years at Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis. Prior to teaching, she was an associate biochemist at Eli Lilly and before that, she worked in oncology research at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. She loves teaching chemistry at the high school level because it gives her the opportunity to help students make connections between concepts in a math-based science and the "real world." She has taught several graduate level technology classes to adults. Her motto is, "Technology must be like oxygen: ubiquitous, necessary, and invisible."
