Dr. Kohlmeier teaches secondary social studies education methods to pre-service and in-service teachers at Auburn University. She has used the lesson-study professional development model with in-service teachers to collaborative plan and implement lessons in social studies courses based on persistent public problems of democratic societies. She teaches undergraduate and graduate students in the how and why of teaching social studies. Her research interests include using problem based inquiry to engage students in social studies, teacher development, and ethical reasoning of students.
