Through curriculum development, grant writing, recognition programs, parental involvement and a culture of high expectations, principal Howard Kenneth Osborne has transformed Campton Elementary School in Campton from an at-risk campus to a high-achieving school. An expert grant writer, Mr. Osborne has brought over $100,000 in funding to Campton, including an Extended School Services Innovative Grant enabling his staff to develop a cohesive math and science program aligned with the Kentucky Core Curriculum and national standards. He also brought to the school a Project "PRIDE" Environmental Education Grant, with which his staff developed an environmental education program and created an outdoor environmental learning center and amphitheater. Mr. Osborne instituted School-Community Nights and Family Reading Nights to involve parents and the community and hosts a radio broadcast during sporting events to promote the school.
