Harold Shirley is not only an educator, he is also the mayor of Cedar City. As the English and humanities teacher at Cedar City High School, he has written grants that are helping establish Cedar City High School's first computer writing lab. He has also developed his own state-approved core curriculum that brings together printed text, recorded music and learning centers to help motivate his students to learn to use technology. Mr. Shirley is also developing an "electronic village" concept that will link the entire community, with access for parents to the schools so that they can stay abreast of students' assignments, attendance and activities.
