Glenn Connor, principal of Meeker Elementary School in Ames, began his career in education thirty-one years ago as an art teacher. Today, as principal of Meeker Elementary School, Mr. Connor has helped introduce innovative teaching strategies such as inductive learning, concept attainment and cooperative learning. The "service learning" program currently being developed under Mr. Connor's guidance uses a partnership between local businesses and the school to actively promote student participation in the community and in social issues. Mr. Connor has served as an administrator and as a teacher in five schools in the Ames school system. In addition, he has served as a panelist for "Goals 2000." His leadership as an administrator and an art educator has won him awards both at the state and at the national level from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
