George Krelis is principal at Wheeling Park High School, a vocational, technical and general education school in Wheeling that offers training to ninth through twelfth grade students. In 1979, Mr. Krelis established the Competency Testing Program, which conducts standardized testing to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each student, and follows up with personalized curricula for them. In 1980, Mr. Krelis developed the Dropout Prevention Program - an in- home effort to address the needs of at-risk students and provide school reentry services to dropouts. To help assure a thorough education for each of the graduates of his school, Mr. Krelis created the Student Warrant Program, which offers post-graduate education to those students requiring further training. He has also developed the College Prep/Tech Prep Program, a team-taught project that incorporates the various disciplines into practical learning exercises for students.
