Described as the "electricity that charges the magnet," Gaylon Garner teaches kindergarten at Chicago's Ralph H. Metcalfe Magnet School. A 20-year veteran of the classroom, Ms. Garner helped to develop Chicago's all-day kindergarten program and continues to be active on a district-wide level. Focusing on academic achievement through self-discipline, Ms. Garner also works with parents so they may further help their children to gain learning skills. Her dedication to teaching has been recognized with a Chicago Area PTA/Kate Maremont Foundation Award.
