Math teacher Elo Anderson has turned down offers to teach at larger, possibly better-paying school districts, remaining committed to the few dozen economically disadvantaged students who attend rural Cotton Plant High School in Cotton Plant. To keep his students competitive in an increasingly digital world, Mr. Anderson has worked hard to bring technology to the school. In addition to his work in the classroom, he has actively trained other teachers at various professional development workshops around the state. Mr. Anderson has served as an executive board member of the Arkansas Council of Teachers of Mathematics and is currently a member of several committees for the Arkansas Department of Education.
