Edward Schroeder teaches language arts and gifted education classes at Coolidge Junior High School in Granite City. And educator for over a quarter-century, Mr. Schroeder is involved in teaching workshops both as a student and as an instructor. Determined to bring as much support and information to his students as possible, he recently incorporated a program of drug and alcohol abuse education into his annual curriculum. Mr. Schroeder conducts his classroom according to the belief that "teachers must totally and willingly commit themselves to a career dedicated to excellence, a career where being just good is isn't good enough, a career where striving to be the best is the norm." Students, all students, deserve no less.
