Ms. Ashworth also "demystifies" pre-college paperwork, scholarship applications and financial aid forms. When she saw a need for helping the school's athletes with their studies, she established a tutoring program and serves as an unpaid academic advisor to the football team. Ms. Ashworth has participated in programs sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities and West Virginia Humanities Foundation, and has studied in Spain, Italy and Greece.
