Business teacher Ed Noonan was the driving force behind the Economics/Business Academy at Dorchester High School in Dorchester, a program credited with motivating many at-risk students to complete school and pursue higher education. A former business executive, Mr. Noonan raised scholarship money, established a board of directors composed of prominent business leaders, and developed the Academy’s internship and professional mentoring programs. He developed the curriculum, building a team of math and humanities teachers who cooperate on curriculum integration, student support and program development. A surrogate father and role model to many of his students, Mr. Noonan helped shape school policy as a member of the Instructional Leadership Team.
