William Coan, principal of Weston High School in Weston, is an outreach innovator, bringing senior citizens from the community into his classrooms, so they can observe how education has changed since they were in school, particularly in the area of technology. At the same time, the program gives students an opportunity to become teachers, helping the seniors learn new skills. He has also developed peer support and guidance programs, including one designed to help freshmen achieve a better sense of direction during their first year of high school. Weston's comprehensive system of technology is another product of Dr. Coan's leadership, which extends beyond the school in his additional role as district coordinator for curriculum and professional development.
