Dr. Brenner has been named Superintendent of the Grand Forks Public School District, effective July 1, 2018. Previous to this new position, he was the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment and Professional Development in the same district for ten years. Additionally, Dr. Brenner served as the Director for School Leadership in the United Arab Emirates for the government’s 720 government schools during the 2007-08 school year.
Brenner is also the former principal at Carl Ben Eielson Elementary School at the Grand Forks Air Force Base and he served as principal at Wilder Elementary School in Grand Forks. Under Dr. Brenner's leadership, Wilder Elementary earned state and national honors including a Blue Ribbon Elementary School Award and a National Title I Distinguished School. Brenner serves as an adjunct associate professor at the University of North Dakota in the Department of Educational Leadership. Moreover, he is proficient in American Sign Language and teachers ASL courses for applicable institutions of higher education.
Brenner is a past board member of the National Association of Elementary School Principals as well as a past board member of the North Dakota Association of Elementary School Principals. He serves on the United Way Board of Directors
