Stephen C. Ellwood IV, a strong advocate for alcohol and drug awareness and abuse prevention programs, is a teacher of science, health and math in grades 6-8 at St. Francis Elementary School. He is also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Maine at Fort Kent and a part-time instructor at the University of Maine at Augusta. He teaches canoeing, winter camping/survival and outdoor leadership at the college level. He is also a registered Maine Guide. Mr. Ellwood has received many honors, including a special citation for contributions to the field of teaching from the University of Maine at Presque Isle and the 1991 Outstanding Alumnus Award from the University of Maine at Fort Kent. In 1991, he was named Maine Teacher of the Year.
