Dr. Phillip Perez is district superintendent of the Little Lake City School District in Santa Fe Springs. Previously, he served as deputy district superintendent for instructional services for the Riverside Unified School District in Riverside. As a former principal of Revere Elementary School in Anaheim, Dr. Perez worked with teachers, parents, and students to make Revere "a place where students like to be." He helped his staff to restructure the curriculum in order to more effectively serve the school's Latino students, who made up 80 percent of the student body. Dr. Perez also implemented parent education programs on assisting children with reading skills, effective disciplinary measures and other topics. Dr. Perez was noted for a marked reduction in disciplinary problems and a notable increase in staff morale and student test scores.
