In her four years as principal at Taft School in Joliet, Louise Coleman has created both a nurturing and challenging environment. Focusing on positive reinforcement, Ms. Coleman marshals the support of staff, students and the community by means of active and hearty encouragement. Under Ms. Coleman's leadership the school's state assessment scores rank among the highest in the district, despite the fact that more than one-third of Taft's student body is considered "at-risk." Ms. Coleman meets the high expectations set for herself, her staff and her students.
