Dr. Miller has been in public education for 20 years, serving as an elementary teacher and central office administrator for Ohio County Schools in Wheeling, WV. As the Ohio County Schools Student Services Director, Dr. Miller supervises various programs, issues and concerns from families of students in grades Pre-K – 12. She directs the Ohio County Schools Universal Pre-K Program, which provides a free and quality pre-k program to all eligible three-year old and four-year old children. She is a certified WV Mentor, ECERS R Evaluator, Early Learning Scale Trainer, and NxG Trainer. Recently, Dr. Miller assisted in attaining the VH1 Save the Music Foundation grant for Bridge Street Middle School and the Community Foundation Grant for Ohio County Universal Pre-K. Dr. Miller received her Ed. D. degree from West Virginia University in Education Leadership/Public Administration. Her dissertation title was The Dynamics of Collaboration in Universal Pre-K Counties of West Virginia.
In my current position, I find that some educators are experiencing anxiety due to the paradigm shift of traditional mathematics to a more standards based/ inquiry-based method of teaching mathematics. I would like to hear from Milken Educators on their experiences with this curricular issue.
