Kenneth Sakatani, Ph.D., teaches art and technology to the sixth through eighth grade students of Bayside Middle School in San Mateo. Known for his expertise in both visual arts and technology, he combines this knowledge in his classes at Bayside Middle School. Dr. Sakatani is also very involved in teacher training, curriculum development, program evaluation, and grant writings; but the major focus of his professional life is in his classroom, where he encourages children to explore new ideas and challenges them to be the best they can be. Dr. Sakatani has opened doors for ethnically diverse students by introducing them to career options in technology and the arts. "Children come to know and understand about art through their sensory intelligence," Dr. Sakatani says. "Developing their visual intelligence and creativity in art is what I find most rewarding in teaching."
