Jose Valderas is director of blingual/migrant education programs for the Bay City Public Schools. The son of migrant workers, Dr. Valderas has been guided throughout his career by the belief that education and a strong work ethic are the key elements of success. In his former position as director of a teacher training program for Hispanic students, he emphasized the value of giving back what one receives through mentoring, tutoring, and "how-to" workshops. Dr. Valderas continues to promote this positive approach by example, serving in community agencies, on school district study committees, and on the boards of directors of United Way, Bay Arts Council, and Bay County Growth Alliance.
