As principal of Hug High School in Washoe County School District, John Genasci has forged strong bonds with local businesses and the community. He serves on a variety of community advisory boards relating to youth, and has successfully developed community support and involvement by leading fund-raising efforts for the school's athletic programs and helping to coordinate Harrah's adoption of Hug through the Partners in Education Program. An active member of several professional organizations, Dr. Genasci served as president of the Nevada Association of School administrators and worked with the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
In 1997 I transitioned from Education to running a cattle ranch. Fixed up a old 1858 house, remodeled another house and build a third. Built 4 dams and 7 miles of fence. Updated a 1909 hay barn on the ranch Recently have been working with another son Joe who has educational software he is developing for students and parents.
