Dr. Dianna M. Lindsay-Mattern brings over four decades of leadership experience to her new role as Head of High School after retiring as Assistant Superintendent--Academics Instruction and Staff development for the Williamsburg-James City County Schools K-12. A former Ohio Principal of the Year, Dr. Lindsay brings a climate of collaboration, practicality and success to her work. Thus far her major initiatives have included innovative scheduling techniques, school climate and culture research, successful staff development, an award winning Academic Advisor and Student Advancement coach program, and other ongoing initiatives for post-high school success for all learners. Dr. Lindsay-Mattern is the author of numerous articles and pamphlets on a wide variety of educational topics, and was featured for her innovations in a Washington Post column titled "Class Struggle" by reporter Jay Mathews. Dr. Lindsay-Mattern is an 27-year faculty member at the Harvard Summer Institute for principals around the world, and severed three terms as the founding Co-Chair of the Harvard Principals Center. She is also a reader for Advanced Placement Art History for the past five years.
I am currently researching the topic of "entry into the principalship" and "school climate and culture". I hope to soon have a text on these vitally important topics.
