Before becoming a first-grade teacher at Cherry Valley Elementary School in Polson, Doug Crosby worked as a naturalist for New Zealand's National Parks. Already then, Mr. Crosby was designing and developing educational programs that were suited to the needs of young children. His interest in working with children would eventually lead to his current expertise in the area of early literacy and early learning strategies. Mr. Crosby has been instrumental in helping Cherry Valley Elementary School set up a leasing policy program enabling the school to expand its computer education curriculum. Improved technological facilities have allowed him to "introduce technology to as many people as possible." He has conducted professional development programs for faculty and night classes for parents, and his students have become technologically confident in areas such as publishing, Internet research and e-mail communication.
