As a teacher at Doris Reed Elementary School in the Clark County School District, Doris Shipp impressed her students with the importance of physical as well as mental exercise. The recipient of the 1987 Nevada Teacher of the Year award, Ms. Shipp was the author of her school's new physical education program. Involved in all aspects of her profession, she conducted training courses for her peers, and served on the Board of Directors of the Nevada State Education Association as well as on the Education Commission for Clark County.
