Dora (Cline) Andrew-Ihrke is programs coordinator of bilingual/bicultural education at Dillingham High School. "My life goals and dreams were established at an early age," she says, harboring the same hope for her students. Under her guidance, the Native Alaskan students of Dillingham High School have taken an important step in this direction by sharpening their dual language skills, both written and verbal. In a series of activities that also strengthen community bonds, her students have published a local elder calendar, written biographies and videotaped cultural dances. A 1985 recipient of Dillingham City Schools' Excellence in Teaching Award, Ms. (Cline) Andrew-Ihrke was named a Fellow of the Alaska Association for Bilingual Education in 1989.
