Special education teacher and department chair Dee Fox's individualized approach to instruction has paid off for her students at Taft Middle School in Oklahoma City. Her special education eighth-graders passed the state's eighth-grade writing test without modification, and one of her students won the school science fair before placing runner-up at the Oklahoma City Science Fair. A tireless worker on behalf of her pupils, she often works Saturdays tutoring students who are experiencing difficulties in certain skill areas and spends her summers planning the next school year. Ms. Fox is a member of the Oklahoma City Public Schools Professional Development Committee and is the administrative designee for special education issues at Taft Middle School.
