Deborah Luckett is the Associate Executive Director at Achieving Student Success through Excellence (ASSET, Inc.), an independent nonprofit education reform initiative in Pittsburgh whose mission is to improve teacher competence. Previously, Luckett was science/technology resource coordinator at Farmington Woods Magnet Elementary School, an International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years program in Cary, North Carolina. The IB approach uses constructivist inquiry within an international curriculum to provide a rich learning environment for students. At the time of her Milken Educator Award, Luckett taught at a continuous progress intermediate classroom at Marlborough Elementary School in Green Lane, Pennsylvania. She was named Pennsylvania Elementary Teacher of the Year by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and a National Honor Roll Teacher by the Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC).
