An educator for over 30 years, David Vigilante teaches history and civics at Gompers High School in the San Diego Unified School District. The recipient of many regional and national awards, Mr. Vigilante devotes much time to extracurricular activities, including coaching the team that won the 1988 National Bicentennial Competition in Washington. The competition tested students' knowledge about the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights and democracy. Mr. Vigilante volunteers his Saturdays at the San Diego Historical Society, helping students to perform historical research. He also was selected as one of the first group of teacher trainers for the National History Center at UCLA.
