Cynthia Montoya is now completely retired after several attempts to get teaching out of her system. It was such a rewarding career that she went back to it twice since retiring the first time in 2005. With adult children moving closer to home, her time is spent with her family and friends. When people ask if they should major in education where the pay is less competitive than for some other occupations, she tells them to think again. Salary is measured by more than dollars and cents. There is nothing like knowing that you "touched the future," as the late teacher-astronaut Christa McCauliffe so eloquently expressed. It is a career one can be proud of.
