Cindy Woods has retired from her position as library media specialist at Spring Mills Middle School in Martinsburg. For this newly built school, she had selected and purchased all books, periodicals, and reference materials for the library media center. In the school's first two years, Woods implemented a Live Eye News Broadcast, West Virginia Book Award Club, "The Freedom Challenge" reading incentive program, and a parent volunteer corps. Woods collaborated with curricular area teachers to introduce students to databases, search strategies, research steps, social responsibility issues and other information/media skills. She worked with the West Virginia Department of Education to write content standards and objectives for library media programs, and also presented workshops at state and national conferences. Cindy was part of the Japan Fulbright Program in 2006 and achieved National Board Certification in 2009. Previously, Woods was a media specialist at Potomack Intermediate School in Martinsburg. During retirement, Cindy is continuing as a Candidate Support Provider for teachers pursuing their National Board Teaching Certification, judging Academic Competitions for Excellence, volunteering in schools and her church. She enjoys being "Grandmommy," playing piano and organ, reading, traveling, and working out at the gym.
