Math instructional coach, Cindi Carroll, guides both new and experienced teachers at Bowie High School in Austin as they continue to learn and grow their craft through reflection and thoughtful questions. Carroll works with teachers individually or as a team to analyze data in order to determine individual student’s needs and then create a plan to challenge all students. A National Board Certified teacher and 20-year veteran of the school, Carroll was instrumental in creating a response to intervention (RTI) program which has helped students in all subject areas become more successful. This during the school day time to meet students’ individual needs as well as her work on establishing professional learning communities (PLCs) across disciplines led the way for the school to become a nationally recognized PLC campus. In addition to coaching teachers and working on school-wide initiatives to improve her campus for all students, Carroll works directly with students by being a class co-sponsor. This role allows her to help students develop leadership skills as the class officers plan events and run meetings while representing the student body of more than 600.
