"I teach my students that in order to save the world, one has to understand it first," says Christine Danley, an environmental science resource teacher at Holland Elementary School in Fort Wayne. As a resource teacher, Mrs. Danley is responsible for the organization, development, implementation and evaluation of the science curriculum for her school and her district. Under her direction, the school's resource lab is a place of constant activity where parents and community members are welcome to contribute to and assist ongoing investigation. The Holland Trashbusters recycling program she developed has won awards at the local and state level. To promote science as a family pursuit, she publishes a monthly newsletter that includes science activities and local environmental developments. Mrs. Danley also directs the school's "Science In A Bag" program and organizes a yearly Science Family Fun Night.
