Cecil Boothe is director of the Northwest Arkansas Professional Center at Harding University in Bentonville, a Harding University satellite campus of about 300 graduate students. Prior to taking this position in 2005, Boothe was assistant to the executive director of the Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators in Marianna. When he was principal of Jim Stone Elementary School in Conway, Boothe was guided by a philosophy of pursuing "all means that promote the idea that all children can learn and be successful." He implemented the Student Incentive Program, designed to boost student self-esteem by rewarding them for positive attitudes and academic excellence. Rewards included lunch outings for good behavior, student-of-the-month recognition at each grade level, and ribbon presentations at school assemblies for students on the honor roll. By keeping parents informed of their children's successes, the program also provided an important opportunity to develop parent/school interaction. In 1993, Mr.Boothe was recognized as a National Distinguished Principal by the National Association of Elementary School Principals.
