Brian Shultz, math teacher at Riverton High School in Riverton, Wyoming, has succeeded at what he once said he wanted to become: the teacher that students remember as helping them to be successful in mathematics. Shultz's contagious enthusiasm for the subject and for the individuality of his students are the reasons his students truly enjoy being in his classroom. His influence extends far beyond his regular classroom. He spends his summers educating younger students with hands-on mathematical experiences. "I love teaching, and for the life of me, can't understand why everyone doesn't choose to be an educator," he says. "The simple rewards in the eyes of a student make being in the classroom the greatest spiritual reward."
