Brian Jandreau is beginning his first year as assistant principal at Massabesic Middle School in Waterboro, Maine. Prior to this, Brian worked for nine years as an educator at South Portland High School in South Portland, Maine. As an English Language Arts teacher Brian demonstrated not only outstanding teaching but highly effective leadership as well. In his second year, he was named chair of the Ninth-Grade Teams Committee, during which he worked with colleagues, administrators, the school board and the public to institute various school reforms. He also chaired the assessment committee for the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC); was a member of the school leadership team; chaired the school's senior year committee and served as the advisor of the senior internship program, in which students earned academic credit by working with a mentor in a chosen profession; and chaired the a district-wide committee on standards-based education. As an educator, Brian is an expert in differentiating and personalizing instruction, building his lessons on students' individual learning results. He has increased academic performance, reduced student failure rates, and helped students connect and get involved with the school community. As a representative of the teaching profession, Brian Jandreau is a superlative example.
