Teacher Blake Cassel employs various innovative methods of boosting the academic performance of her third graders at Harrand Creek Elementary School in Enterprise To promote literacy and technology, she encourages her students to use "Email Pals" to discuss favorite books, compose and edit writing selections, and touch base with friends and former teachers. Mrs. Cassel co-designed the school's Web site and serves as Webmaster. She also assists colleagues with topics ranging from computerized report card systems to tips on the latest educational Web sites. Mrs. Cassel was chosen as the Enterprise City Schools' 2002 Elementary Teacher of the Year and received National Board Certification in 2003.
