"Seeing students succeed and excel is one of the great rewards of teaching," says Beverly Ann Hoffmaster, a teacher of general educational to third grade students at Berkeley Heights Elementary School in Martinsburg. Her efforts were instrumental in the expansion of the school's Parental/Community Involvement program, which joins the school and business community in a partnership to benefit the children of Berkeley Heights Elementary School through field trips, guest speakers, and a range of classroom volunteers. Believing teaching is both a learning experience and challenge, Ms. Hoffmaster consistently develops innovative techniques to her practices to enhance her teaching and students' learning . These innovative techniques have resulted in an increase in the CTBS scores of Ms. Hoffmaster's students from an average of 49% to 65%-70% in all disciplines.
