Barbara Rous left the classroom 11 years ago to become project director of the Individualized Language Arts (ILA) Program. She travels statewide to train teachers in the use of the ILA writing method of teaching composition. The ILA Programs, adapted from a nationally validated program in New Jersey, helps students develop a love for writing. In learning that they can share their ideas through writing, many children have been transformed from uninterestd, disheartened students to proud authors. Ms. Rous has trained teachers and staff in 115 school districts in Georgia, made presentations at state conferences and provided ILA training in eight southern states.
