Arthur Lader, German teacher at Aiken High School in Aiken, advocates the internationalization of the educational system. To this end, he has initiated a program called "International Student Exchanges and Sojourns for High School Students," which enables teachers in the Aiken County Public Schools system to develop international study programs for students and teachers that include study trips abroad and exchanges with such countries as Germany, Italy, France, Spain and the United Kingdom. Mr. Lader is also involved in the "Partners in Friendship" program, which develops well-integrated educational, cultural and business relationships between Aiken and cities throughout the world; Aiken's first partner city under this program was Orvieto, Italy.
