Anne Marie Utter, English teacher at Reno High School in Reno, has helped her students consistently achieve the highest SAT and ACT scores in the state and has taught a large number of National Merit Scholars. Mrs. Utter requires her students to use computers through the entire writing process, and she frequently uses CD-ROMs and other education technology to instruct her students. In addition to teaching a sophomore honors English class, Mrs. Utter teaches a leadership class to juniors and seniors, many of whom are members of Reno High's award-winning student council. Mrs. Utter was recently elected the chairperson of the Reno High School English Department.
