Anita Clark teaches mathematics at Marshall High School in Marshall where she has developed a pen pal program between her high school students and local sixth grade students. Each correspondence illustrates a new math concept through sample problems and solutions. This novel approach not only reinforces the math that Ms Clark's students are learning and teaches math concepts to younger students, it also makes friends of strangers when, in the spring the entire group is brought together for a truly exciting math pal gathering. "Although I am a professional educator, I would also describe myself as a student of mathematics," says Ms. Clark. "One who enjoys learning, who is willing to try new ideas and techniques, and shares them with colleagues and students."
