Thanks to English teacher Anete Vasquez, students in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at Palm Harbor University High School in Palm Harbor have scored above the world average for two consecutive years. Ms. Vasquez helps students reach such high performance levels by employing innovative student-centered methodologies, from cooperative learning structures to Classroom Learning Systems (CLS). Through this latter strategy, she ensures that all her lessons are directly related to the learning objectives of state and IB program standards. As a member of the school's CLS cadre, Ms. Vasquez leads staff workshops in consistently applying CLS throughout the district. To improve communication with parents, she created and maintains a Web site containing her syllabus, lesson plans and samples of student work. Ms. Vasquez is National Board Certified.
