Amy Daley, kindergarten teacher at Verda James Elementary School in Casper, uses learning centers on a variety of subjects-from rain forests to castles-to make learning both interactive and fun. She often uses experiences from her own life as the basis for lessons, such as a unit she taught on marathon running, which she does in her spare time. Ms. Daley is a leader in the teaching of writing, and is the co-founder and director of an award-winning writing center. Ms. Daley is also an innovator in the area of assessment, having redesigned the early elementary report card at Verda James to better reflect how young children learn.
