Alison Olzendam is currently is the Director of Education & Technology Networks at Washington State University's Center to Bridge the Digital Divide. Among her projects is an initiative to begin six High Tech High Schools in the State of Washington, each with a link to the community, allowing students a real life experience that also benefits the community. This initiative, titled Connecting Schools and Communities, is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Dr. Olzendam is also working on a project to create a teaching and learning network between Washington State University and the University at the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. Additionally, Dr. Olzendam is a certified trainer and conducts Extraordinary Leader workshops through the Zenger Folkman Company for leaders in education. She also coaches and mentors new principals for the Spokane School District.Â
My current work is centered around creating highly effective schools. What a fascinating time to be an educator!
