Alicia Harris has joined the leadership team of Greenbriar Elementary School in Indianapolis as assistant principal. Harris created the Raising Expectations program, which was awarded a Milken Festival for Youth grant to raise student awareness of their own potential through field trips to various universities, service projects such as neighborhood beautification, and distance learning sessions, blogs and video logs to establish positive connections throughout the community. Previously a seventh-grade math teacher and team leader at South Wayne Junior High School, Harris is also a former Title I teacher whose technology-integrated classroom served as a model of innovative instruction and performance assessment. Harris frequently shares her expertise on performance assessment with fellow educators. An accomplished singer, Harris often performs the national anthem at Indiana Pacer games.
