Alda Hanna teaches fifth grade at Steele Elementary School in Harrisburg. Ms. Hanna has taught in the Harrisburg School District for thirty years. To prepare her students for the 21st Century, Ms. Hanna teaches a curriculum that is entirely science-based. Paleontology, geology, solar system studies, physics and environmental issues are a few of the areas she covers in her classes. Ms. Hanna believes "the education that teachers provide must include innovations that connect children with technology." Accordingly, she secured a grant to provide a multi-media computer network for her class to enhance her students' learning. In addition, Ms. Hanna works to increase her expertise as a science teacher through active participation in classes, workshops and other forums within the discipline.
