Surprise, Principal Timothy Thomas: You’re an AZ Milken Educator!

 

 

Lowell Milken, chairman and co-founder of the Milken Family Foundation, talks with veteran Milken Educators from Arizona about their own Milken Educator Award notifications and the impact that the Award has had on their careers. Shalini Sharma (AZ '14, far right) says the Award "[makes] a difference in our lives…I relive this moment each day." Nicki Derryberry (AZ '15, far left), says that on the day of her surprise notification students had so much work to do in her science classroom that she didn't want to take time out for an assembly. Of course, she's glad she did. "[The Award] really empowers you to do things even better than you already do," says Derryberry. Adds Ana Gutierrez (AZ '14, behind Milken): "I saw myself in each and every one of [the students] that day."
