Melissa Kovac Joins New Mexico Milken Educators

 

Second-grade teacher and Milken Educator Award recipient Melissa Kovac savors a quiet moment after her surprise notification. Kovac engages her students at Amy Biehl, a high-need K-6 school, with a multitude of hands-on activities. In the fall, for example, the class dissects pumpkins, recording their observations about the skin, seeds and flesh in their science journals, then travel to a pumpkin patch to see the pumpkins growing on the vine.
