Science teacher Colin DeGroot, New Mexico's 2015-16 Milken Educator Award recipient, talks with reporters at his surprise notification. Students reportedly fight to get into DeGroot's class. He believes that students need to own their own learning and asks them to become "experts" in specific areas of study, then share their findings with the entire school.
