Kimberly Moreno Wins NJ 2015 Milken Educator Award

 

 

Union City High School Principal Ryan Lewis closes Kimberly Moreno's surprise Milken Educator Awards assembly by reminding students why their teachers show up every morning. “It’s moments like this that make what we do so worthwhile," he says. "It’s about you, the students, every day.” Union City High School, which was underperforming so severely in 1979 that the state of New Jersey almost took it over, now boasts significantly improved test scores, graduation rates and college acceptances, due in large part to passionate teachers like Moreno. “We are a beacon of light crammed into this densely populated city," says Lewis.
