Biographical Information

Cofounder of Coral Community Charter School in Albuquerque, NM.  Coral Community Charter School is the first Single-Gender charter school in NM.  Coral Community Charter School serves grades pre-K through 6.  Mr. Nunn is the leader of the Boys’ academy and currently teaches all boy grades 4-6.Reid Nunn is an outstanding practitioner of standards-based instruction and continuous improvement at McCollum Elementary School in Albuquerque. In 2002, Mr. Nunn implemented the SQS (Strengthening Quality in Schools) initiative at McCollum to improve education using Total Quality Management principles. As part of this implementation, he adopted a Plan/Do/Study/Act (PDSA) cycle-part of the Baldridge Continuous Improvement (CI) model-as the infrastructure of his classroom. Mr. Nunn's effective teaching has helped his students consistently achieve among the highest scores on the New Mexico Standards-Based Assessment. He encourages self-directed learning and self-assessment among his students, often guiding them in using data notebooks to set goals and monitor growth. He has also spearheaded the use of short-cycle assessment tools such as Math Stars and Access to Learn (A2L). Mr. Nunn has chaired the school leadership team since 1998, and has served as math team leader and chair of the math goal group since 2004. Strengthening quality in schools seems to be what Reid Nunn is all about.
